MUSINGS FROM THE SKETCHBOOK – ONLY DEMONS THINK IN STRAIGHT LINES
We sat there in wonder as it rose from the rubble and morphed into stone and feathers.
It began to move, making a hissing sound as it rattled.
Suddenly it looked in our direction and singled me out of the group. I tried to make as little eye contact as possible.
Then in a rapid-fire manner, it shot the following questions at me:
“Are you the Count of Monte Cristo? Only demons think in straight lines. But you knew that already, didn’t you? Did you take a test? Have you ever been bitten by a toucan? How about a rabid jack rabbit in the desert?”
